Software for EU Regulation 2023/1542

Battery passport software for manufacturers and recyclers

Passoria is a web platform that issues, maintains and hands over the digital battery passport required from 18 February 2027 for EV, LMT and industrial batteries above 2 kWh. One record per battery, from the production line to the recycler's intake dock.

Who uses it

One passport, three jobs

Battery manufacturers and importers

You are the economic operator the regulation names. Declare each battery model once, with its composition, carbon footprint, recycled content, supply chain and dismantling data, then issue a passport for every unit you place on the market.

Recyclers

Scan a pack at the gate and get its chemistry, hazards, dismantling steps and state-of-health history before anyone opens it. Group deliveries into intake lots, triage them, and record the end-of-life status the passport requires.

Second-life and storage operators

Receive the passport with the pack when it changes hands. The health readings and the full event history travel with it, so you price and warranty a repurposed pack on evidence instead of a fresh cycle test.

Capabilities

What you get on day one

Model-level data, declared once

  • Battery models with the Annex XIII data the regulation asks for at model level: identification, material composition, hazardous substances, recycled content, carbon footprint, supply chain due diligence, spare parts and dismantling
  • Every field carries its legal access tier (public, legitimate interest, authorities), shown next to the value
  • Data stored in typed fields, not free text, so it can be exported and checked

A passport for every unit

  • One passport per physical battery, linked to its model, with serial number and manufacturing date
  • A QR code per passport that opens a public page anyone can scan, showing the public tier only
  • Status and custody tracked over the whole service life: placed on the market, in use, repurposed, waste, recycled

A record that holds up in an audit

  • Lifecycle events are append-only: corrections are new entries that point at what they correct
  • Each entry is hashed and chained to the one before it, and signed by the organization that acted
  • Chain heads are sealed by an external RFC 3161 timestamp authority, so the history can be checked outside Passoria
  • Custody transfers are signed by both the sender and the receiver
  • Full detail on the Trust & security page

Recycler intake and recovery

  • Scan-to-manifest intake: chemistry, hazards, dismantling sequence and state-of-health history in one screen
  • Intake lots and a triage queue for a full delivery
  • Bulk end-of-life status updates across a lot
  • Material recovery batches that link recovered material back to the passports it came from, as evidence for the 2031 recycled-content quotas

Carbon footprint calculation (add-on)

  • Carbon footprint studies per battery model under Article 7 and Annex II: bill of materials, plant energy, transport and supplier footprints
  • A versioned emission factor registry and a full calculation trace for the verifier
  • The result publishes straight into the model's carbon footprint declaration
Integrations

Where your data comes from

Passoria connects to the systems that already hold your battery data. Production data arrives from ERP and MES through the REST API, health and cycle data through the BMS connector, and supplier carbon footprints as PACT files.

  • Web interface for model data, passports, transfers and intake
  • REST API for passport creation and updates from ERP and MES
  • BMS connector for state-of-health and cycle data
  • PACT format import for supplier product carbon footprints
  • Spreadsheet import of bills of materials and activity data
  • Catena-X / Eclipse Dataspace Connector exchange
  • Supplier data requests with a secure form
  • Notified body access for carbon footprint verification

Pilot program

Issue your first passports before the deadline

We are working with a limited number of manufacturers, importers and recyclers ahead of 18 February 2027. Pilot passports have every feature of a real passport and are clearly marked as pilot on their public page. When you are ready, they are promoted to official passports in place: same identifier, same history.

What the pilot includes
  • Your battery models set up with you, field by field
  • Discounted pricing after the pilot
  • Direct input into product roadmap
Questions

Questions buyers ask

Which batteries need a passport?

EV batteries, light means of transport batteries (e-bikes, e-scooters) and industrial batteries above 2 kWh placed on the EU market from 18 February 2027. Portable and SLI batteries do not need a passport, though they carry other labelling duties.

Who is responsible for the passport?

The economic operator that places the battery on the market: the manufacturer, or the importer for batteries made outside the EU. Responsibility moves to the operator that repurposes or remanufactures the battery.

Where is the data hosted?

On EU infrastructure certified against ISO 27001 at the hosting level. Passoria itself does not claim a company certification.

Can recyclers use Passoria without the manufacturer on the platform?

Yes. A recycler can scan any passport we host and run intake, lots and triage on it. For packs without a Passoria passport, the intake records what the recycler finds.

Is the passport registered in the EU registry?

The Commission's central registry stores passport identifiers, not passport data. Registration support is part of the pilot scope.
